New HTC One (M8) ad plays with the power of suggestion

Gary Oldman is back for yet another HTC One (M8) ad. The tone and underlying message is similar to the previous ads we saw when the phone launched back in March. HTC isn’t talking about specs, features or design; they simply want people to “ask the internet” about the phone.

When the first HTC One (M8) ads went up, we were a bit hesitant about the message since it’s impossible to know how consumers will react to a phone until they’ve had some time to play around with it. Yes, the media was sure to given the One (M8) rave reviews, but they project the same sentiment of the general consumer? We still don’t know how well the HTC One (M8) is selling, but consumer review of the phone on Amazon, Best Buy and service provider websites.

HTC One (M8) consumer reviews

Based on consumer reviews, it looks like HTC’s “ask the internet” gamble may pay off. Do you think HTC’s marketing approach with the One (M8) is on the right track or should they be showing people what the phone is actually capable of?

  1. Fantastic marketing scheme, in my opinion. It’s intelligent and honest, but a lot of folks would rather be marketed and told what to do, so a two-fold plan might have been better. HTC has such a diluted line up of phones that they don’t have a massively strong brand to use. They might have been better served with quotes and stats and then followed up with “Don’t believe us? Ask the Internet!”

    1. So like this powder is better than this why pay more. Dont forget its good not for housewive its for “big boy”.
For example I would be offended if someone would bring it so straight and blunt.
      We like our quaerendum.

I think they spent lovely time to do these adds.
