HTC has announced that the U11 will be getting an update which will enable 60fps video capture. While this update seems fairly simple, HTC is giving itself a “couple months” to get the new software update pushed out to all the regional models of the phone.
HTC did not give a lot of details in the Twitter announcement, but The Verge managed to pull some additional information from HTC regarding which video resolutions would be getting the 60fps support. Like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and similar devices, the U11 will only be getting 60fps support while recording 1080p with 4K video capture will still be limited to 30 fps. We’re not exactly sure why the U11 didn’t launch with this feature right out of the box, but it’s nice to see HTC working to fix the problem.
We do not know what the first updates will be made available, but given that HTC has announced it to its customers through social media, it should be soon.
