The HTC One M10 is coming and it’s going to feature a bold new design and a “very, very compelling camera.” While details like these are typically followed by images and Tweets from “a trusted source,” HTC is the one giving away the One M10’s secrets this time around. As the madness of Mobile World Congress was unfolding last week, HTC released a teaser image on Twitter which likely show the unique chamfered edge on the back of the phone which was leaked a day earlier. While the front of the device may look like a carbon copy of the HTC One A9 (or the iPhone), HTC appears to be moving away from the design standard it set for the back of its phone with the launch of the original HTC One. Based on what we’ve seen, we’re not sure if we like the new design, but we’re glad to see HTC’s design team taking a new approach.
For years, HTC’s flagship phones have failed to deliver a truly stellar camera experience. HTC has tried a handful of different approaches, but the UltraPixel sensor and DuoCamera setup didn’t live up to the hype. In an interview with CNET, Chief Financial Officer Chialin Chang stated “we can confidently say that HTC will have a very, very compelling camera experience.” The statement was given after Chialin Chang had seen what the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 camera experiences had to offer. For those who don’t know, Samsung’s new flagship has a 12 megapixel camera sensor with improved auto focus and low light capabilities while the LG G5 comes with two camera sensors, one of which features an ultra-wide angle lens.
There’s absolutely no chance that the HTC One M10 will outsell the Samsung Galaxy S7, but that doesn’t mean that HTC will not be able to deliver a compelling product which will help the company back to its feet.
