In case you were sleeping, Google is having a big conference this week called I/O and today the tech giant announced a new flavor of Android only referred to as Android L. This mysteriously named refresh on the Google mobile operating system is said to bring lots of personal integration with the way we operate in our every day lives and even better battery saving features.
Are you scratching your head and wondering what this has to do with HTC? We think not, but would like to let everyone know that our favorite smartphone maker has stepped up to the podium to let fans and customers know that you can count on HTC to work extra hard to deliver the update to multiple phones in as early as 90 days. Don’t start your countdown clocks just yet, because HTC is merely in the Pre-Evaluation phase since Google hasn’t yet officially released the software to manufacturers and chip developers, but as soon as they do expect that HTC will keep us in the loop. HTC has been very upfront with customers through social media on HTC’s progress and commitment to the support of phones currently on the market through the HTC Advantage program.
A note from the HTC blog:
As part of our HTC Advantage commitment globally, we pledge to update all of our HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) smartphones within 90 days of receiving final software from Google.
After HTC is confident in its work on the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 other HTC device families will be in line to for a taste of the new operating system. The HTC Advantage program offers to keep your phone updated for at least 2 years after its release date to extend the value of your investment.
HTC will have to tear down the new code and find the best ways to integrate HTC Sense with the new features rolled into Android L. We’re still trying to soak in the news from Google I/O, but expect to see more from us on the upcoming Android operating system and what it could mean for HTC.
Is this the first time you’ve heard about the HTC Advantage program? Read here for more info.
