HTC One mini casing design difficulties lead to handset inventory shortage

HTC has received a lot of praise for the aluminum construction of the HTC One mini, but the phone’s casing appears to be at fault for low production numbers of the phone. According to multiple sources, “casing shortage arising from design difficulties” are to blame for the HTC One mini’s low supply numbers. Analysts estimate that production numbers of the HTC One mini are currently hovering around 200,000 units per month, leading to consumer and service provider demand that can not be met.

If HTC is having issues with sustaining high production numbers for the HTC One mini, it could also be the reason why HTC chose to launch the device exclusively on AT&T here in the US. We do not know how many HTC One mini’s HTC was originally planning to sell this quarter, but production issues certainly will not help the company’s bottom line and may the the tipping point which could force HTC to post its first ever quarterly loss in Q3.
