With the Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One making its way to handsets across Asian and Europe, HTC has decided to flip the update switch for the HTC Butterfly as well. As promised the Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC Butterfly is accompanied with HTC Sense 5 and delivers nearly all of the same features HTC One owners are just now getting acquainted with. Butterfly owners now have BlinkFeed, Video Highlights, Quick Settings in the notification pane, improved auto focus in the camera, HTC’s new keyboard and much, much more. The only software feature from the HTC One that appears to have been left out is HTC Zoe which captures 4 seconds of video and 20 images simultaneously.
“We are grateful for the support of Taiwanese consumers, and Taiwan is the world’s leading market to receive the new Sense 5.0 software update for the HTC Butterfly.” – Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia
We expect the Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC Butterfly J to roll out next, but don’t expect to see Verizon and HTC push out the update for the Droid DNA any time soon. While the Droid variant of the Butterfly features nearly identical hardware to the Butterfly, updates for Verizon phones typically lag behind by 2-3 months. Also, we expect HTC would like to introduce many of the new Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5 software features with the launch of the Verizon HTC One.

Will your HTC handset be updated to Android 4.2? Here’s what we think
When will the international HTC ONE X receive its new update to Android 4.2 and Sense 5? cant wait to get the update..
well, here comes a typo. It’s called HTC J Butterfly rather than Butterfly J. Just a reminder.
When will HTC Butterfly (international version – Singapore) will get the 4.2.2 / sense 5 update???
Jumped in joy when i heard the Butterfly was getting the update, and that too the Asian version. Then i got to know the an XDA developer forum thread that only HTC_621 CID (Taiwan) was getting it 🙁
My CID is HTC_044. Is there any timeline for HTC for providing the Sense 5 updates for the rest of the CIDs. Can’t understand the logic why HTC is dong a controlled roll out considering the volumes of the Butterfly sold is not great compared to the HTC One X, etc. HTC seems to love pissing of existing owners by not communicating properly!
