Rumor: HTC using DROID Incredible X as base for Google Nexus 5

If rumors about the upcoming HTC DROID Incredible X were not appealing to you, the latest Nexus rumor may. According to an anonymous source, Google and HTC are creating a new Nexus phone which is based on the DROID Incredible X. The new device is being referred to as the Google Nexus 5 and is said to feature a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2,500mAh battery, 12 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front cameras, LTE connectivity and up to 64GB of internal storage.

As the Nexus name implies, the Google Nexus 5 will be shipping with stock Android 4.1.2 which features bug fixes, minor tweaks, new lockscreen functionality and improvements to Project Butter.

Based on previous rumors, the Google Nexus 5 could be one of five new Nexus devices which are being prepped to launch this fall – joining rumors of Nexus phones from LG, Samsung and Sony. The only major player left out of the rumor mill at this point in Motorola.

  1. wow.
6 months ago i was convinced a phone with a screen larger than 4 inches is too big…now, if they manage to minimize the rim around the screen and this baby doesnt look like a goliath note then im all in.

  2. I’d still prefer it as a One x5 with HTC Sense. FullHD-Screen, 2GB RAM, 32GB and a microSD Slot, Quad Core CPU. Thats the phone I always wanted from the technical side and if it looks as good as in the leaked pictures, I can’t wait to own one 🙂

  3. C’mon Google, 5″ is to big. 4.3 is – 4.7 OK, but 5 will be to big for most users. I’d like a one handed experience and I barley have that at 4.7. If they want wide spread adoption then they need to make a phone that will fit the majority of users. I don’t think most men want a gargantuan phone and I know woman don’t.

  4. My hope exactly…a Nexus made by HTC with the above specs plus an SD card slot and removable battery on a form factor abt 130mm tall and abt 10mm thin due to the bigger battery. A device fashioned after the One X+ or the Sensation XL. I badly need a HTC device of this caliber with PURE JB ANDROID or HTC NEXUS like right now. I really hope this turns out to be true…i have my cash ready to be handed over to Google or HTC.
