Official: HTC EVO 4G LTE to launch on Sprint’s network on May 18th

After making the HTC EVO 4G LTE available for pre-order earlier this week, Sprint has finally announced that the handset will go on sale in stores across the country on April 18^th. The handset’s launch date matches up perfectly with multiple rumors we have reported on over the past few weeks.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE may not be the first LTE enabled device on Sprint’s network, but it will be the most powerful. The handset is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm processor and contains a 720p HD display,1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a dedicated ImageChip used for the 8MP rear camera and a 2000mAh battery. At launch, the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be the most powerful and feature-rich Android phone on the market.

Unfortunately, most people will not be able to take full advantage on the EVO 4G LTE’s amazing speeds since Sprint is still in the process of rolling out its LTE coverage. There are currently only six markets with LTE coverage, but Sprint is expecting to kick things into high gear later this year.
