If you haven’t heard about the HTC Ruby yet, you may want to sit up and pay attention. The HTC Ruby will be HTC’s ultimate Android device for 2011. Within it’s uncharacteristic white body beats a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM to do all the thinking. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the Ruby’s 4.3” qHD display is double glazed and airtight. This will take the Sensation down a peg, making it second in line for the crown of power king, but as yet there has been no word on availability. The Ruby is destined for T-Mobile in the states, and in a leaked roadmap image from TMoNews, there is finally confirmation that the HTC Ruby will launch on October 26th.
For people who want a choice, the Samsung Hercules (aka the Samsung Galaxy S2) will be released at the same time. With similar specs, I can see a fight coming on. From most of the leaked images we have seen of the HTC Ruby, we see a bit of a departure from HTC’s design policy, with a very smooth and possibly plastic device. This may be a bit of a trade-off to help keep the outright price down.
The Ruby looks to be an incredibly beautiful piece of kit decked out in it’s white coat and tails. You certainly get the impression from the front that it’s a glass slab. With a 1.5 GHz processor, we’re really wondering how the battery life on this monster will perform. With industry leading specifications like the Ruby has, dare I say it, it’s popularity and uptake will really depend on how many hours you can get out of the battery in it with heavy use. If this is the shape of late 2011, can we expect Quad core devices from HTC in 2012?
Sorry to tell you this but penultimate means second best… 🙂
I’m expecting some pretty great HTC Windows Phones around the same time Rob, with the Mango update on board and 1.5 Ghz processors, Adreno 220 graphics and large 12 Mp cameras. I don’t think HTC have finished for the year yet with it’s powerhouse phones 🙂
