Another speak peak at the Verizon HTC Incredible

Images of HTC handsets have always managed to leak to the public a month or so before showing up in stores.  But is seems things are getting a little out of hand. The upcoming Verizon HTC Incredible has been spotted multiple times in the past few weeks.  We typically get a few blurry shots of the phone, but this time is appears we have a few more details to share.  As you can tell from the pictures, it appears that Verizon and HTC have shied away from the glossy red back cover that’s been spotted on the HTC Incredible in the past.  The new back cover is now a black, soft-touch cover with a Verizon logo in the bottom corner.  The front of the Incredible features four capacitive buttons under the screen and HTC’s new optical joystick that we’ve seen on the Desire and Legend.  Verizon’s Incredible measures in at 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9mm, making it slightly larger than the Nexus One, but smaller than the HTC Desire.

One of the most exciting features (the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor) of the HTC Incredible may not be as incredible (sorry for the pun) as we all thought.  Reports from Android Forums indicate that the processor has been under clocked to 768MHz.  I’m sure that once the phone is rooted, developers and hackers will have the Snapdragon processor up and running at its proper 1GHz speed, but we’re not sure why Verizon would choose cut the phones processing power by 25%.  The only logical explanation we could come up with is battery conservation.

At this rate, we should be seeing more leaked images and details of the Verizon HTC Incredible by early next week.  If not, I have my money on an official announcement of the Incredible during CTIA in about a week and a half.    Stay tuned.
