HTC One (E8), Desire 616 officially unveiled for India

India has never been a very big market for HTC, but the company hopes that will change with its announcement today that the HTC One (E8) and HTC Desire 616 will soon be available in store shelves across the country. While the HTC Desire 616 is a budget device for those who want a smartphone on a very tight budget, the HTC One (E8) is flagship-tier device which sports most of the features from the HTC One (M8).

The HTC Desire 616 will carry a Rs. 16,900 price tag ($281 USD) and will be available sometime next week, while the HTC One (E8) will sell for 34,990 ($583) when is goes on sale later this month. The Desire 616 for India is prices $40 more than it is in Singapore and the One (E8) is more than $130 more expensive than what HTC is charging in China. We’re not exactly sure why there’s such a wide price discrepancy between these markets, but it’s still nice to see that the HTC One (E8) is $170 cheaper than the HTC One (M8).

  1. I don’t know about India, but different countries have different price tag for a lot of reasons.

The official MSRP for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in Brazil is R$ 2800 [U$1260], while S5 costs R$ 2400 [U$1080]. Almost the double of US MSRP. In Argentina the prices seems to be very high, too. HTC phones are cheaper in China than in Europe. So it doesn’t impress me to India MSRP be a little higher. But It would be nice to have S5 price in India on this post.

    E8 is only U$ 449 in China? Isn’t it U$ 499?

  2. In Brasil Samsung will be even cheaper. LOL

Yes Europe expensive as they earn more and can pay more for goods. Electronics and cars in USA cheap. Big market and competition.
