Kouji Kodera resigns from his post as HTC’s Chief Product Officer

Kouji Kodera, HTC’s Chief Product Officer, resigned from his position at HTC last week around the same time Jason Gordon, HTC’s VP of Global Communications announced on Twitter that he was also departing after a 7-year stint at HTC. According to The Verge, the recent departures are only the tip of the iceberg as global retail marketing manager Rebecca Rowland, director of digital marketing John Starkweather, and product strategy manager Eric Lin are among other high-profile names which have said good-bye to HTC over the past three months.

So why is everyone at HTC jumping ship?

The truth is, there’s no real evidence that there’s a mass exodus underway at HTC. Rebecca Rowland and John Starkweather’s jobs were most likely lost in the shuffle when Benjamin Ho was brought in as Chief Marketing Officer and HTC’s decision to take its global marketing campaign in-house after the way things turned out with Mother in 2012. We do not know why Jason Gordon and Eric Lin chose to leave HTC, but a recent tweet from Eric implies that tension may be running high as HTC is betting everything the company has on making sure the HTC One is a success.

While Peter Chou may think that “the worst for HTC has probably passed” there are reports that be could resign his CEO position if the HTC One is not a success. While it would be nearly impossible for the HTC One to outsell Samsung or Apple, HTC’s production of the HTC One has doubled in the past month and demand is expected to increase as the device is made available in more regions across the globe.

  1. Hurry up and make it available the world over…ppl need this device now that it is HOT HOT HOT. If they take too long ppls attention may move elsewhere..they already blew a crucial sales window b4 the GS4 came out. Also get that GE HTC ONE ready to go in early june as the GE GS4 is said to also debut. I am sure a 32GB and 64GB GE HTC ONE will out sell a 16GB GE GS4. Though over all Sammy will sell more GS4’s due to their ability to mass produce and all the myriad legions of GS4″s.
