With all the excitement of CES last week, we kinda forgot that Sprint launched the HTC EVO Shift 4G. The new WiMax enabled 4G handset is pretty similar to the HTC Desire Z, though it sports a slightly smaller 3.6 inch display and a pretty standard sliding screen.
The Sprint HTC EVO Shift 4G is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7630 800 MHz Snapdragon processor and is running on Android 2.2 with HTC Sense. Don’t get too excited though since Sprint and HTC have loaded up the save version of Sense that is currently running on the HTC EVO 4G with no integration with htcsense.com or any of HTC’s services. The EVO Shift does features a 5MP camera with LED flash, capable of shooting 720p HD video, GPS, stereo Bluetooth support, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a 2 GB microSD card.
Sprint is offering the HTC EVO Shift 4G for $149.99 with a two year contract (after instant savings and a $100 mail-in rebate) or for $399.99 straight up. After HTC’s other announcements from last week, the Sprint HTC EVO Shift does look a little tame, but if you’ve been waiting for a QWERTY equipped HTC phone on Sprint’s WiMax network, the EVO Shift will be your only option for quite some time.
