The US launch of the HTC U12+ hasn’t gotten off on the right foot. The new flagship smartphone is technically now available in the US, but some of the people who pre-ordered the phone through HTC’s website and Amazon are having a hard time actually getting the device they purchased. One of our readers sent us a note yesterday, informing us that “multiple people are reporting that their pre-orders were canceled (mine included) with no notification.” The issue appears to only affect those who purchased the HTC U12+ with HTC’s financing option.
Another reader let us know that Amazon doesn’t even have stock of the HTC U12+ yet, despite being a launch partner for HTC in the US. Rather than getting the story out as quickly as possible, we reached out to HTC for an official comment on the issue:
“We’re aware a small number of U12+ orders were affected by a system error that made it seem like the orders were canceled. This is not the case, and we’re in the process of contacting these customers to ensure they know their order will be on its way very soon. We are working directly with these customers to ensure they quickly receive and love their HTC U12+.”
HTC was not able to comment Amazon’s inventory of the HTC U12+, but we have reached out to a contact at Amazon to see if they have any insight into when the HTC U12+ will be in stock at their warehouses and when pre-orders of the phone will ship out.
We will share more information about the situation as soon as it becomes available. If you’ve been affected by an HTC U12+ order cancellation or if you purchased the device from Amazon and have not yet received a shipping confirmation, please feel free to share the details in the comments below.
UPDATE: We’ve heard from the person who originally shared this issue with us, stating that HTC did get in contact with him and others about the issue to reprocess the order for the HTC U12+ without losing his place in line and also offering to “upgrade to one-day shipping and throw in some extras.” While it’s good to see HTC is working to resolve this issue, HTC has likely lost more than a few HTC U12+ customers because of it.
I’m waiting to be in stock again in Europe the translucent blue.
Do we know when it’ll be in stock again?
& yet people like me that are on Sprint’s network are stuck.
So no up-grading from the HTC 10 for me
My order appears cancelled. I sent them an email on the 20th, received a response that they would look into it on the 21st, but said that it might take a few days to get back to me… I guess this is how they get back to customers. I’m disappointed. I’m a huge fan and have only purchased HTC phones since I first saw the HTC Radar. I hate that Samsung and Apple almost have the market monopolized and have avoided purchasing their phones, but it looks like I’ll sell out and pick up an S9.
