The HTC U Ultra was a bit of an afterthought for the company, but we’re just learned that its Android Oreo update for the phone is finally being pushed out. As of right now, we’ve only been able to confirm that the update is being released to devices originally sold in Taiwan, India and Italy, but HTC should soon have the update ready for the US and other countries across Europe and Asia.
The 1.6GB Android Oreo update for the HTC U Ultra includes a handful of “system enhancements” in addition to the usual Android 8.0 feature which includes app icon notification dots, rich media notification controls, picture-in-picture mode for supported apps like Netflix and Google Maps and much more.
If you own an HTC U Ultra purchased in Taiwan, Italy or India and have yet to receive the software update, you can try triggering it manually by going to Settings > About > Software updates > Check Now. Let us know how the installation process goes and which new features you enjoy the most.
