HTC isn’t expected to release the upcoming HTC U12 until sometime in Q2 of this year, but that didn’t stop the company from showing off the device at a Chunghwa Telecom 5G demo event in Taiwan. The HTC U12 in question was heavily disguised, only revealing its 18:9 display which appeared to be similar in size to that of the HTC U11+.
During the demonstration, the HTC U12 managed to reach download speeds of 809 Mbps over Changhwa Telecom’s 5G network which is being rolled out in Taiwan. While that may sound impressive, the current HTC U11 is capable of acheiving the same download speeds since Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip used inside that phone supports the same technology.
As for the HTC U12’s other specs and features, very little was revealed during the demo event. The phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chip set, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a dual-camera module on the back which would improve upon the HTC U11’s already stellar camera performance.
