At an event at the Peninsula Manila in Makati City, HTC revealed that it is officially selling its phones in the Philippines, again. HTC will be selling its flagship U11 (P36,990), the U Ultra (P26,990), U Play (18,990), and the Desire 10 Pro (13,990). The Philippine Peso pricing of HTC’s devices is 10-15% higher than what you’d pay for the phones in the US, but the pricing does include the country’s 12% VAT.
Bringing its phones back to the Philippines will not have a massive impact on HTC’s bottom line, but HTC can use every sale it can get. If HTC can pull off a compelling market-specific marketing strategy in the Philippines, it should be able to rake in a profit for the region since the company has little to no overhead in the Philippines.
