HTC U11 update delivers camera and system enhancements and Google’s June security patch

The HTC U11 has been available for a little over a month now, but the phone is already getting a second software update. We woke up this morning to an update notification on our Taiwanese HTC U11 which includes the June security patch from Google along with enhancements to the camera and overall system.

We have not noticed any specific changes to the camera app or the phone’s UI, so the enhancements offered by the update are all behind the scenes. When updates like these roll out, it would be nice if HTC was a little more specific as to what changes are made.

If you happen to own the Taiwanese HTC U11 and have not received the software update yet, go to Settings > About Software updates > Check Now to download the update manually. The 295.17 MB update only takes a few minutes to download, but the installation process does take about 15 minutes.

Let us know how the installation process goes and if you happen to notice any of the enhancements mentioned in the changelog.

  1. What about bringing their other flagships up to date?!
The unlocked European HTC 10 is still with the January security patch, which is totally unacceptable.

    1. I’m taking about a six-month period, in which Google release 6 security patches, one for each month.

      1. it would be nice if phones got every security patch, but that’s unrealistic – especially considering that HTC is hurting for cash. Not even Samsung has been able to push out more than 2-3 security patches to their flagship phones.

What you’re more likely so see if HTC bundle the security updates with planned updates for its phones. The HTC 10 will likely get another update before Android O is released and the latest security update will be included with that.
