We knew HTC wasn’t planning to unveil a new smartphone on March 20th, but we did finally get the HTC U Ultra with sapphire glass and 128GB of storage. The phone is available for pre-order through HTC Taiwan’s website with a list price of NT$ 28,900 which converts to $949.38 USD. While the price is quite high, it’s only a 20% premium when compared to the based model.
We don’t know what the price point of the sapphire glass limited-edition model of the U Ultra will be when it makes its way to the US, but it could likely sell for $900 since the US base mode is going for $749.
While the HTC U Ultra does feature glass on the front and back of the display, the sapphire glass is only applied to the front, allowing customers to order the phone in blue, black, white and pink. Putting sapphire on the back of the phone would have resulted in a much more expensive device. Those who pre-order the device will also be given a limited-edition leather flip case, key ring and Quick Charge 3.0 charger.
Do you think the HTC U Ultra with 128GB of storage and sapphire glass on the front is worth $900?
