The #MadeByGoogle launch event is scheduled for later today, so it’s not surprising that there are a few more leaks which have popped up over the past few hours. The first is the revelation that Verizon will be selling the blue variant of the Pixel and Pixel XL. That’s a bit of a surprise since Verizon usually opts for red if it has the choice. Images of the blue variants of the two phones were shared by Evan Blass, revealing that the front of the phones will be white with a dark blue aluminum unibody shell.
On top of that, Verizon accidentally published the product pages for the Pixel and Pixel XL to its site, revealing the prices of the phones. When purchased with a new contract, the 32GB base model of the Pixel will sell for $199.99 and the 128GB model will go for $299.99. The price of the 32GB Pixel XL is still not known, but the 128GB model was listed at $419.99. We’re assuming that it will sell for roughly $300.
The pricing of the two phones appears to be a bit high, but Verizon has always charged a premium for the devices it sells. The off-contract price of the Pixel will likely be $650 and the Pixel XL could go for $800 or more.
Way too expensive. These companies are getting very greedy. I’m out.
