HTC has officially unveiled its two new HTC Desire smartphones – the Desire 10 Lifestyle and the Desire 10 Pro. Both phones feature the same basic design, but their internal components are dramatically different.
Starting with the design, the HTC Desire 10 phones are a dramatic departure from the Desire phones HTC released earlier this year. While it may look like the phones are covered in metal, they are actually plastic with gold-colored, laser-etched accent lines which highlight the phone’s unique design features. Like the HTC 10, the Desire 10 smartphones have gone back to capacitive buttons below their displays.
The HTC Desire 10 Pro is the more powerful of the two, featuring a MediaTek Helio P10 processor. Buyers will have the option to choose between 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Naturally, a microSD card slot is included which boosts the phone’s storage capacity by 2TB. The camera on the back of the Desire 10 Pro has a 20-megapixel BSI sensor with laser autofocus and an ƒ/2.2 aperture lens and a 27.8mm focal length. The front-facing camera sports a 13-megapixel sensor and the same lens setup as the main camera and the phone’s 5.5-inch 1080p display is protected by Gorilla Glass.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, but HTC’s site also lists an “optional” version which comes with 2GB of RAM and only 16GB of storage. Those needing additional storage will be happy to hear that the phone also support microSD cards up to 2TB. The phone’s 5.5-inch display is a Super LCD panel with Gorilla Glass protection and a resolution of 1280 x 720, giving it a pixel density of 267 ppi. While the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is a mid-range device, it does come with a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.
The main camera has a 13-megalixel BSI sensor with an ƒ/2.2 aperture and 28mm lens while the main camera is equipped with a 5-megapixel BSI sensor with an ƒ/2.8 aperture and 33.7mm focal length lens. To give users a better selfies experience, HTC is also throwing in a 150-degree panorama mode for the front-facing camera. The battery on the phone is limited to 2700 mAh, but HTC promises that users should get up to 8 hours of video playback on a single charge.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle goes on sale today for £249. Unfortunately, we do not have a launch date or price for the HTC Desire 10 Pro. All we know is that the phone will go on sale in October.
