When the first HTC Nexus rumors started floating around the web, it’s been speculated that the phones would simply be a Nexus version of the HTC 10. Since then, we’ve seen a handful of concept renders and leaked photos of the upcoming Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish. The device do features a metal unibody shell and a few design elements which appear to be lifted from the HTC 10.
But things took a bit of a twist when leaked images of the upcoming HTC Desire 10 Pro made an appearance. While HTC Desire phones typically sport polycarbonate finishes, the Desire 10 Pro appear to have a premium, aluminum unibody shell, gold trim around its camera, edges and antenna lines and a fingerprint sensor on the back. The phone falls in line with the basic HTC design elements we have seen over the past few months, but the closest reference design to the HTC Desire 10 Pro is that of the 2016 Nexus phones and not the HTC 10.
If you take a closer look at the two designs, you will notice that the font of the Nexus devices and the Desire 10 Pro share a lot of similarities. The speaker above the display, camera and proximity sensor are all the site. The only minor difference is that the Desire 10 Pro has capacitive button markings below its display and that its proximity sensor it located about the speaker grill as opposed to the one on the Nexus phones which is located below the speaker grill.
As for the back, the devices all feature a round fingerprint sensor and camera modules which are placed in the top right corner. You can even see that the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top edge of the phones is located in the same position.
We still don’t have an exact release date for the HTC Desire 10 Pro or the Nexus Sailfish and Marlin, but all three devices are rumored to be unveiled in September. The image below (created by us) shows what the HTC Desire 10 Pro would look like with a few of the design elements pulled from the 2016 Nexus devices.
