HTC’s smartwatch launch postponed till fall

HTC fans hoping and praying for an HTC-build Android wear device will to wait even longer. The rumored June 6 launch of HTC’s first smartwatch has apparently been scratched in favor of a fall release. No specific date has been given for when we can expect the device, but given that it’s still technically spring for roughly another month, we will have to wait at least 120 days until the device shows up.

If you think you’re the only one disappointed with the news, get in line. Even Evan Blass (the source for this article) doesn’t seem thrilled with the fact that the launch of the HTC smartwatch has apparently been pushed back so many times. HTC first started talking about smartwatches over two years ago and we actually spotted an  early smartwatch prototype which mistakenly made it into an official HTC video in June of 2014. At the time, HTC was expecting to release the device for the 2014 holiday season. As history shows, that never happened.

The device that’s currently rumored has been pushed back from February to April to June and now the fall of 2016. We’re not sure why HTC has chosen to postpone the launch, but we’re hoping that the extra time and effort put into development means that the final product will be superior to any Android Wear device we’ve seen so far. Since HTC produces the best build Android devices on the market, so we imagine HTC fans would expect the same craftsmanship and attention to detail with HTC’s first smartwatch.

  1. Consider that within hours of his tweek, Blass also tweeted that he had “never used VR.” Finally, what do YOU think are the chances that “people realize that they don’t really need these products” by this fall? Really? What an idiot.
