The HTC Vive is an expensive piece of tech, but that doesn’t mean everyone is going to leave it in one piece. If you want to know how to disassemble your HTC Vive or are simply curious to know what things look like on the inside, iFixit has posted images and instructions on how the HTC Vive can be torn down to its basic components.
Unlike HTC’s flagship, unibody smartphones, the HTC Vive is pretty easy to take apart and has been given a repairability store of 8/10. The teardown also reveals that the Vive motion controllers use the same touchpad as Valve’s Steam Controller. This should make it pretty easy to find replacement parts if you happen to damage a Vive controlled when you accidentally throw it across the room.
