Latest HTC 10 teaser hints at stereo BoomSound speakers

HTC has released its fourth official teaser for the upcoming HTC 10, something we weren’t really expectation this week since the company announced on Tuesday that the phone will be unveiled on April 12. While leaked press renders and photos of the HTC 10 do not show HTC’s trademark BoomSound stereo speakers on the front of the phone, the new teaser from HTC states “Here comes the new boom. You’ll hear it. #powerof10.”

The statement is accompanied by an image which shows two distinct speaker grills which supports our earlier assumption that the HTC 10 would have stereo speakers – one on the front and the other on the bottom edge. The audio experience will likely be different than what the HTC One M, One M8 and One M9 offered, but it should still be better than the sub-par audio experience that Samsung Galaxy S7 customer have been complaining about.

Are front-facing stereo speakers a must-have feature for you? Let us know in the comments if you think the audio experience of HTC 10 will outperform that’s being offered by the Samsung Galalxy S7 or the LG G5.

  1. So now the best best thing could be speakers on both side of the phone so it wil not matter how you lay it down. They same also for placing 4 mics in the phone to process and capture all the sound for better reproduction.

    1. Actually, the Alcatel Idol 4 and 4s do just that. They only have two speakers, but there are speaker grills on both sides of the phone which allow the phone to project audio to the front or back based on how the phone is sitting or being held.

  2. tri – Front facing speakers weren’t a “must” until HTC invented them. There’s no acoustical requirement that stereo requires two front facing speakers. You can certainly get the effect with proper engineering of the “front” and “bottom” speakers.

Hype – You are on to what I expect to see in the 10. Remember, bottom disperses — we can’t really hear stereo in the lower frequencies. That’s why people have single woofers with their speaker systems.

  3. Yes. Will wait to see phone and hear it. Sound on decline since they abandoned Beats. I want to be able to listen without headphones and get quality sound.

  4. Absolutely, front facing speakers are a must. I can never go back to bottom or rear speakers.

  5. The loss of front facing stereo speakers was going to be my main concern. But, a front and bottom speaker with stereo sound is worlds better than just a bottom speaker that you tend to cover up with a finger. I do like the idea (for a future phone) of two front facing speakers plus a subwoofer on the bottom.

  6. Yes, for HTC’s flagship, I’d say they’re a must. The boomsound speakers are the biggest differentiation they have compared with other devices and its their signature feature. I can’t see them leaving that out on their best device.
