HTC teases ‘World First, World Class, Front and Back’ cameras for the HTC 10

We didn’t get #powerof10 teaser from HTC last week, but we did get a new one a few hours ago which draws attention to the HTC 10’s front and rear facing cameras. Naturally,  HTC hasn’t given us any specifics to work with,  but we’re definitely intrigued to see how the HTC 10’s “World First, World Class” camera actually work. Rumors claim that the HTC 10 will be equipped with a 12 megapixel “UltraPixel” Sony imaging sensor for the main camera and 5 megapixel “UltraPixel” sensor on the front.

Do you think that HTC will finally be able to deliver a flagship smartphone with a world class camera? Since the HTC 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be using similar Sony imaging sensors, there’s no reason why HTC customers should get an inferior camera experience this time around.

  1. Rumor is that the HTC 10 will have the Sony IMX377 sensor, which is a 1/2.3″ type with 1.55 micron pixels. The GS7 has the Sony IMX260 sensor, which is a 1/2.5″ type with 1.4 micron pixels. So, they are not the same sensor. Both have 12mp, but the HTC sensor is bigger.

  2. At this point nick they have to deliver a world class camera. Literally everyone has good cameras on their phones, even the Nexus and the one plus which at one point were known for having mediocre cameras.

It was the one thing I wish was different on my m7 & m8 (I never owned the m9).
