According to a new job listing, Microsoft is looking to hire a new Director of Account Management in Taiwan who will “lead all aspects of sales and business development interaction with HTC.”
While a few technology blogs have posted stories claiming that HTC may have a Windows Phone 10-powered HTC One M10 in the works, there is absolutely zero evidence to back up those claims. Yes, HTC did release the HTC One M8 running Windows Phone, but that was a completely different device at a completely different point in time for HTC and Microsoft. It would certainly be easier to save come design work and create a duplicate version of the One M8 and slap Windows 10 on it, but Microsoft is likely looking for a partner to bring its mobile OS back to life with a unique phone design that won’t easily be confused with an Android-powered device.
Keep in mind, Microsoft partnered with HTC to develop the HTC 8S and HTC 8X – two exquisite devices which won multiple design awards. There’s no reason why the two companies can’t come up with another unique device which will be seen as the flagship phone for Microsoft’s mobile OS.
