Things are settling down from CES 2016 and now it’s time for the HTC Vive tours to resume and the group is starting the new year off at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
When HTC announced the delayed launch of the consumer version of Vive one of the positives we tried to hold onto was that there were going to be a lot more public demos. Although an official schedule hasn’t been published like last year’s world tour, we know HTC is trying to get the Vive on as many heads as they can before the launch. Advertising is one thing, but giving first hand experiences is hard to forget; especially when it’s something so mind blowing like virtual reality.
The upcoming week is a short week for many in the US as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he stood for. HTC has plans to spend a couple days, Tuesday and Wednesday to be exact, in Houston, Texas at Rice University.
On the flyer below, HTC says the experience will be with the new HTC Vive Pre so users should anticipate using the new outward facing camera and learning how it applies to a student’s life while immersed in VR.

Sign ups will start around 9am both days and demos we begin close to 10am. Demos are usually around 30 minutes and will be offered until 8pm daily. Students and faculty will have to sign up to Vive, but be prepared if asked to pick a time slot and come back later to avoid a long line. Trust me the experience will be worth it and you won’t want to miss out. Follow the @HTCVive handle on Twitter to keep up with any changes that may apply during the tour and also to find out if there are any openings on the schedule left for sign ups.
