HTC and Under Armour will sell UA Band, UA Scale, UA Heart Rate individually – here are the prices

Announced last week at CES, the HTC-built UA HealthBox carries a $400 sticker price. While it wasn’t included in the product announcement, HTC has confirmed with us that the UA Band, UA Scale and UA Heart Rate will be sold individually after the UA HealthBox goes on sale. Our contact would not give details regarding pricing or availability, but a few publications which received early access to the UA HealthBox have shared the individual prices of the three fitness gadgets.

The UA Scale and UA Band will be listed for $180 while the UA Heart Rate chest strap will go for $80. Individually, the three connected-fitness devices would set you back $440. It’s not a huge discount, but you do save 10% if you buy the UA HealthBox which includes all three devices.

Unfortunately, HTC and Under Armour’s fitness devices are more expensive than comparable devices from FitBit. The FitBit Charge HR fitness tracker and FitBit Aria smart scale are listed at $150 and $130 respectively. Sure, the UA Band has a few extra tricks over the FitBit Charge HR, but as far as we can tell, there’s no real difference in features between the UA Scale and the FitBit Aria. Since none of the UA HealthBox products are yet on the market, it’s hard to say if the price gap between the HTC’s and FitBit’s products will be an issue.

Since Under Armour is one of the biggest names in sporting apparel, do you think the UA connected-fitness devices will be able to compete with FitBit’s?

  1. man, HTC keeps doing this, from the M9 to Nexus 9 to the Re and the A9 they keep on pricing themselves out of the competition. As a new product on the market, I don’t think even UA’s brand can be counted on to set the price what it is, especially since there’s no real difference between the FitBit and the UA solutions.
