As promised, the unlocked HTC One M9 in the US will be updated to Android 6.0 before the end of the year! The news comes from @moversi, announcing that the update will be downloadable within the next 24 hours – just in time for Christmas. Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) comes with quite few tweaks, but most of them are hidden away. With Android Marshmallow, HTC One M9 users will get Google Now on Tap, a new battery-saving doze feature and adaptive storage which can increase the system storage of the phone with a microSD card. We’ve included a video below which shows how to use adaptive storage on your phone.
The HTC One A9 is already running Android 6.0, but HTC promised that it would update the US model to every new version of Android within two weeks of Google releasing the update to its Nexus phones. The Android 6.0.1 update that’s headed to the HTC One A9 by the end of the day is mainly a maintenance update with a new security patches, but it also adds roughly 200 new emoji.
