Instagram has just implemented a new feature on its Android app which it recently deployed on iOS thanks to the new iPhone’s 3D Touch hardware. On iOS, users can interact with thumbnail images on Instagram by pressing harder on the screen. This would enlarge the image and allow user to like, comment or send a message to the owner of the image. While this requires special hardware that’s built into the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, Instagram was able to easily replicate the feature on Android with a simple long-press.
If you’re scrolling through thumbnails, just tap and hold on the image you want to view and it will pop up on the screen. Without lifting your finger, you can move over the various icons on the screen to like, share or comment on the image. Once you lift your finger, the image pops back into place.
The new feature isn’t going to dramatically change the way to use Instagram, but it is nice to have a new way to interact with the content, especially since it saves you from tapping the back button on your phone. Chances are that you phone’s already downloaded the latest version of Instagram, so go ahead and give it a try.

Force touch has got to be the most trumped up feature in a while. This exact scenario shows why. From most of the scenarios I have seen it used in long pressing would accomplish the same. No special hardware needed
