The HTC One A9 isn’t a true flagship smartphone, but it managed to help HTC increase monthly revenue for two months straight and a release in India later this month should help the company increase revenue even further. Starting on December 18, the HTC One A9 will be available for ₹29,990 (roughly $450 USD). The sale price is lower than what HTC’s asking for the phone in the US, but the device only has 2GB or RAM and 16GB of internal storage compared to the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage found in the US variant.
For the Indian market, the HTC One A9 is still considered a premium device, but it is significantly cheaper than the HTC One ME and HTC One E9+ which sell for ₹40,500 and ₹36,790 respectively. HTC’s President of Global Sales recently said that the company has plans to increase its market share in India’s the low and mid-range smartphone segment by 75% within the next six months. The HTC One A9 will play a key role in that plan, but it will also be helped by the launch of the HTC Desire 828 and a few other devices which have yet to be announced.
