According to Robyn Mak, columnist for Reuters Breakingviews, HTC will be “heading for extinction in 2016.” Robyn remarks were targeted at HTC, Sony and a few other smartphone makers, based on the smartphone industry’s slowing growth rate and near-nonexistent profit margins.
But HTC isn’t planning on closing up show any time soon. It’s true that 2015 has not been kind to HTC, but that has more to do with bad decisions within HTC than anything else. Countering Mak’s comments, Cher Wang stated that the HTC brand will never disappear. While HTC made a name for itself as one of the world best smartphone makers, the company is working on a long-term strategy to expand its product portfolio with products like the HTC Vive (virtual reality system), HTC Re (action camera), HTC Grip (fitness tracker). In a statement to the press, HTC reiterated that will be able to take on competing smartphone manufacturers by delivering flagship-tier devices which are targeted at niche markets.
Based on what we’ve seen from HTC in the last quarter of 2015, we believe the company is finally making smart decisions about its future. The HTC Vive will make a huge splash in the second quarter of 2016 and HTC’s partnership with Under Armour should culminate with the launch of a family off connected fitness products in the next six months. HTC will likely never fully regain its market share within the smartphone space, but that really doesn’t matter as long as the company can find a way to grow while making a decent profit.

Htc is just expensive now and offering much less than others for the price. Its so simple as that.
If they keep continuing with alike a9 and x9 (cripled and overpriced)….2 years top for their survival.
