This week’s theme was brought to you by Justin Patrick, a theme designer I’ve featured before in this thread. The Heroic Acts and a Starbucks Run has very simplistic design. Taking up the majority of the screen, the wallpaper is full of my favorite color; blue followed by white mountains and the silhouette of some trees and a buck.
The rest of the theme looks as nice as the wallpaper. The weather icons and clock contrast well against the blue shade of the theme’s color palette while the custom icons are made up of nice pastel colors with a rounded-edge overlay. The icon overlay applies to all icons not just the custom designed ones. For all other default apps, their original design is reduced in size to make sure that any square app icons fit within the boundaries of the overlay.
I really appreciate when all apps get a custom overlay keeping a consistent flow throughout the theme.
The Heroic Acts and a Starbucks Run theme comes with custom weather icons that are white and smokey nestled next to the thin white numbers of the HTC Clock.
I prefer to keep the clock and weather docked to BlinkFeed.
Where do you place these items if at all on your homescreen?
I like that Justin included three sounds with this theme. There’s one for the ringtone, notification, and alarm. The one thing I’d like to see differently is a handful of wallpapers versus the same wall on the lockscreen, homescreen, Dot View, etc., but at least the one wallpaper is decent quality.
Justin Patrick has a number of designs under his profile and I would recommend you follow his account for future designs. I already have a couple of his bookmarked for future “theme of the week” articles. He does mention in the description that this theme was made by someone else on another mobile platform, but he still gets credit for curating it and bringing it to the HTC Theme app. Heroic Acts and a Starbucks Run was added to the library on 10-25-15 and has been downloaded 2286 times so far.
