With the HTC One A9 already available in Europe and North America, but is finalizing its plans to bring its new mid-range flagship phone to India. HTC has sent out invitations to a press event which is scheduled for November 25. The HTC One A9 isn’t specifically named on the invitation, but the background image does coincide with the invitation that HTC sent out for the US unveiling of the phone.
If you’re not already aware, the HTC One A9 features a metal and glass design which is a cross between the HTC One M8 and the HTC Droid DNA. While the phone’s premium design elements should put it in direct competition with the HTC One M9, the phone comes with mid-range internal components which allow HTC to sell it at a reduced price. The HTC One A9 features a 5-inch 1080p display protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 64bit processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage a 13 megapixel BSI sensor for the main camera paired with OIS and a f/2.0 lens UltraPixel front-facing camera, fingerprint sensor and a 2,150mAh. One of the other highlights of the One A9 is that it is the first non-Nexus smartphone to launch with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).
India is one of HTC’s biggest markets, so it’ll be interesting to see how they position the phone and what price HTC expects to get for it there. So far, we’ve been impressed with the HTC One A9, but we’ll still need to wait a while before we find out if the phone is the commercial success HTC is hoping it will be.
