Android app of the week: Monument Valley

This week’s Android app has been a game that I’ve wanted to try for so long, but I’m just too cheap to pay the full price tag so I delayed until I saw it advertised for free.

Want to know how and where I downloaded this game for FREE? Keep reading to find out.

Monument Valley is a beautifully designed maze game where you have to navigate a silent princess to the checkpoints to finish the chapters.

It’s not as easy as it might sound though, with architectural design that messes with your eyes, what you may be looking at one way will look completely different when you turn the structure or flip a switch that moves a bridge to a whole new level. These mazes are full of optical illusions that you have to manipulate to progress forward.

These structures are amazing!

There are soft sounds in the game that make the journey a peaceful-delight and the game puts me in a relaxed state when I play it. Each new chapter reveals stunning structures and some let you rotate around the structure for a full 360 degree game play.

As you progress in the game you meet new obstacles like walking characters with large beaks that squawk when they get near you. They don’t get out of your way so you need to time your travels perfectly to pass them.

I like that when you finish a maze the app lets you take a screenshot and you can even zoom in or out to get the best shot. You can also take screenshots in most areas of the game except for when a part of the story is being told.

I downloaded Monument Valley & Forgotten Shores for FREE!

Once you finish the chapters in the main game you can continue on to the Forgotten Shores chapters. Those chapters are available for an in-app purchase of $1.99 or if you take my advice you’ll download the Amazon Underground app and play all the chapters of Monument Valley for free!

Monument Valley is optimized to play on your phone or tablet and can even be synced so it doesn’t matter which device you play on you can pick up where you left off. I have enjoyed my experience with this app and it is nice to add a quality game to my “bored” folder for times I have nothing better to do.
