This morning a surprise rumor tweet was passed around full of speculation. The source on Twitter, @LlabTooFer has been mentioned a few times on this site with tips on upcoming HTC products so we’re a little perked by the details mentioned in the latest tweet.
So there’s an invitation floating around the web that HTC is holding an event on September 29th and I think a lot of what @LlabtooFeR says on Twitter is inspired by the content of the invite. For instance, there’s the Roman numeral TWO in the top middle of the card and there’s two large mountains as the backdrop. Is this a hint that two phones will be announced? Maybe. Let’s look at the full tweet.
On the September 29th we might see 2 devices. Butterfly 3 for local Chinese market and updated HTC One M9+ (Hima_Ultra_R1).

One device and probably the most dead on is the suggestion that the HTC Butterfly 3 is coming. It’s been a year since the B2 so this makes a bunch of sense. The second half of the tweet hints that China will see an updated version of the already new HTC One M9+. Didn’t China just get the One M9+ and is it already time for a refresher of that one?
I think many of us thought the One A9 would be announced since we missed the previously forecast launch event rumored a couple weeks ago. The key thing to us not reading about the One A9 in this tweet is that it’s already been tipped that a US carrier will get that phone and the upcoming event we’re talking about a local to China launch on the 29th of September. Despite that claim, I think if there is a second device announced in China next week it should be this one over the One M9+, but I’m a nobody so don’t listen to me.
While there weren’t any specific details about the phones mentioned in the tweet, we can form some ideas thinking about the similar models that are currently on the Asian market. The HTC Butterfly 2 was an impressive device when it launched last year and fans have been mixed about the One M9+ with its fingerprint scanner and split screen.
