The image above should look familiar. HTC has just unveiled the HTC One M8s, a cheaper version of last year’s HTC One M8 wrapped in an identical silver, gold or gunmetal grey aluminum unibody case. To keep the price down, the HTC has swapped the Snapdragon 801 chip the more efficient 64bit Snapdragon 615 and the UltraPixel sensor on the back is now a standard 13 megapixel sensor. The one upgrade that the HTC one M8s features is a larger 2,840mAh. All other specs on the HTC One M8s match those of its predecessor.
The HTC One M8s will launch with Android 5.0 and HTC Sense 6, but it should be updated to Sense 7 sometime this summer.
It’s hard to image anyone wanting to downgrade from the HTC One M8 to the HTC One M8s. Fortunately, the £379.99 sticker price of the HTC One M8s should be quite enticing for anyone who can’t stomach the current £499.95 retail price of the HTC One M8, but you can always pick up the original M8 from Amazon for £375. For now, it looks like the HTC One M8s is only making its way to Europe, but there’s always a chance that US service providers decide to pick it up as well as a cheaper alternative to last year’s HTC One M8.
