The cat’s out of the bag. Three, seemingly-official, leaked videos of the HTC One (M9) have hit YouTube. The first video is the usual spec, design and features highlight clip and the other two show off the phones new imaging capabilities and UI customization options. The design and specs appear to align with most of the leaks we’ve seen so far, but this is the first time that we’ve gotten a look at the new software features that HTC will be rolling out with HTC Sense 7.
Specs
On the specs side, the videos claim the HTC One (M9) will still have an UltraPixel camera, but it will be moving to the front for all those low-light selfies, a 20 megapixel main camera to “capture every detail,” BoomSound speakers with Dolby Audio Surround integration. The video doesn’t give us details on the display size and resolution or reveal if the M9 will be powered by the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.
Design
The design of the HTC One (M9) looks nearly identical to last year’s One (M8) with a few subtle tweaks. The video highlights the One (M9)’s two-toned gray and gold metal finish, three buttons along the edge (volume and power), squircle camera lens on the back with a slight protrusion form the body of the phone. The phone doesn’t look like the leaked images shared by @evleaks and doesn’t match the design details that were shared with us from a trusted source.
Software
While the design of the M9 doesn’t look much different from last year’s model, the software appears to be completely different. Below are a few of the highlights that we spotted in the different videos:
- location based launcher which appears to change the apps on the HTC One (M9)’s home screen based on the users location
- Yelp recommendations on the lock screen
- Yelp integration into Blinkfeed with “mealtime suggestions”
- theming/customization app which extracts colors from gallery images, customizes wallpaper and changes default icons
- four-button soft-key layout
- Photo Editor Application which allows for advanced photo editing, including the masking of two images with shape manipulation and textures
- Music streaming to multiple rooms/speaker systems
Does your trusted source still think the design he shared is the real one? 😛
Uggh, I was really anticipating the M9 as my next upgrade from the M7. But for some reason the “htc” bar below the screen annoys the heck out of me. I can’t stand Samsung, and LG phones feel to “plasticky” like Samsung. No Sony phones on Sprint, and a bunch of lower tier manufacturers to choose from.
Please tell me that this is not the actual design. Also, someone noticed this:
Look at the Top Images Top Bezel and then look at the Bottom Images Top Bezel. Does something seem off to anyone else?
(Thank you Alessandro Sartori)

Year are off because it is not a real time action. It is all added afterwards. We will see March 1. I will still get the phone no matter what
As will I. As will I
Well that sux. All 3 videos have Ben removed. :-/
Hmm, looks like the videos have been removed …
I’m here to help…This guy has edited the three together. This is 100% the final design because @UpLeaks got his twitter suspended over leaking this video:
The EvLeaks renders were gorgeous, but this is not good, not good at all.
Still big bezels, same size 1080p screen and in a thicker form factor, wtf were they thinking?!
Anyone else here as disappointed as me? I think HTC just made their last flagship!
I’m gutted personally. I blame Peter Chou and his ego for this clusterfuck. He just committed corporate suicide and took down HTC with it, like the captain of the Titanic…
I’ll hold my point of view til AFTER the MWC …
So I guess your ‘trusted source’ who gave you that ‘exclusive’ was giving you bad information?
I don’t know why you still refer to them as a trusted source? Almost seems as if your exclusive on the design was nothing but an attempt at click bait.
Nick,
Any chance you confirm this with “your trusted source” ?
I know it will be revealed in a few days but the hype is killing me.
Nick,
I want to know what you think.
