HTC has announced that the unlocked and Developer Edition HTC One (M8) will start receiving their Android 5.0 update tonight. The details of the update come from HTC’s @moversi who made the announcement on Twitter this morning. HTC originally announced that the One (M7) and One (M8) would receive the update before the end of January. For now, HTC is roughly two weeks ahead of its promised release date, but the company still need to technical acceptance from all major US service providers and roll out the update to all the carrier branded versions of the HTC One (M8) and One (M7). We’re excited to finally use Android 5.0 on our HTC One (M8), but we’d be lying if we denied that we’re even more excited to see what HTC’s software team puts together for HTC Sense 7 on the next flagship phone later this spring.
HTC One (M8) Unlock and Dev Owners! We have received TA from Google on Lollipop + Sense 6. OTA will be out starting tonight. #HTCAdvantage — Mo (@moversi) January 13, 2015

Great news, hope htcsource will give a software tour of all the changes in a video please
HTC doesn’t make himself a good name by announcing that 5.0.1 update, and then we europeans must find out that it’s US only, hello, like there isn’t a world at all outside the USA! We also own your smartphones, you know, you could just mention that it’s US only. Where’s the respect?
And why do they at all release the update in one single country first? isn’t it logical to bring it to everybody at the same time?!
they promised to bring the update in 90 days, well, there’s only 16 days left.
In stead bringing it before new year’s eve (as they were realisticly able to), we are still waiting, and waiting…
HTC tried to use the lollipop hype to gain some PR, but they already blew it.
