HTC One (M8) receiving Lollipop update in Europe and Canada

As HTC’s self-imposed deadline to get the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update pushed out by the end of January approaches, we’re eager to report that more handset owners can now download the update. The update for the unlocked HTC One (M8) is available in Europe and HTC Canada announced a few hours ago that the update is currently being pushed to Bell, Wind and SaskTel branded HTC One (M8)’s.

It’s unclear if HTC will be able to meet its deadline at this point. There are dozens of service provider variants of the phone across Europe and Asia that are still waiting for the update and HTC USA’s software update page still lists the Lollipop update for the Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T HTC One (M8)’s in the integration stage of the update process. Once integration is complete, the software needs to be delivered to service providers for testing (this step can take 2-14 days) before it can be pushed out to handset owners.

We’re really hoping most HTC One (M8) owners will have Android 5.0 running on their phones before the week is out, but we wouldn’t be surprised if HTC misses the cutoff by a week or two.

  1. I got my update on Wednesday afternoon, and I own an unlocked M8 for UK.
The update brought some great new stuff, not too much but definitely changed the feeling.. I personally love it and the phone feels like a new one.
I can only suggest to everyone to install the nova launcher prime 3.3 so you can enjoy a almost stock Android experience without rooting your phone.
