Those looking for their next flagship HTC device have been focused on the rumored HTC Hima, but if you’re looking for something a bit more affordable, the upcoming HTC A12 may be a better fit. A new rumor from Upleaks claims that HTC is working on a budget-friendly smartphone that will be picked up by T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and AT&T in February. The HTC A12 is rumored to feature a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm 410 MSM8916 SoC with 1GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 720p display, 8 megapixel camera on the back, 1.3 megapixel camera on the front and a 2,100 mAh battery.
Based on the specs, the HTC A12 appears to be a mash-up of the HTC Desire 620 (available in Europe and Asia) and the HTC Desire 612 (available on Verizon). Most of the internal specs match those of the Desire 620 while the screen size and front-facing camera are identical to those of Verizon’s HTC Desire 612. The rumor doesn’t specify the phone’s price, but we can assume it will carry a $300-$350 retail price and should be listed for free when coupled with a new two-year contract.
We’re not sure when HTC will be revealing the HTC A12, but a CES unveiling could be in the works if HTC is planning to start selling the phone in the US in February.
