The Re app, the companion to the actual Re camera that ships later this month if you ordered the white version, is now available in the Google Play store. The Android app hit the store yesterday, but has yet to make an appearance in the iTunes app store. The 6 MB download doesn’t take up too much room and gives the user a peek into what the Re camera can see as well and a few extra features.
Without the Re camera in our hands we can’t take the app for a spin yet, but there’s a short tutorial to help build our excitement!
With the Re app users can turn their phone into a mobile viewfinder and remote shutter for the Re hardware. You can also view the content stored on the memory card in the Re in a gallery fashion. On a side note: HTC encourages users to avoid the viewfinder while shooting with Re, but there will be times when the viewfinder can provide a better shooting experience.
Did you shoot something you just can’t wait to share with friends? Use your phone to get that fresh content on your favorite social media networks before you get home. In the future, HTC is working with YouTube to allow the Re to share live content with viewers through the user’s paired phone.
Users will also be able to use their phone to start a time lapse video. Before you do any of this, download the app and pair your Re. Tune into the rest of our Re action.
