One thing we’ve just learned fans are not going to see at tomorrow’s launch is an HTC made smartwatch. When we heard that HTC ditched its efforts to explore a smartwatch using Qualcomm’s chip and operating system, we had a strong feeling they hadn’t completely turned away from smartwatch avenue and now we hear we will have to wait until next year while HTC continues to develop a watch that will bring true innovation to the field.
A report from Re/code.net says that HTC Americas lead, Jason Mackenzi thinks the company isn’t ready to unveil what it has been working on yet despite having plans to introduce one at tomorrow’s big event.
It ended up just not being ready.
HTC could be making a safe move by patiently waiting to enter the smartwatch market. While there are some decent products available from some of the other major manufacturers, the use for such technology hasn’t quite slapped everyone in the face and the tech simply has more fun factor than function.
Although the news is sad to hear, personally speaking, it makes it easier for me to budget for the rest of my family for Christmas and not just myself. I want the new Nexus tablet… I want the HTC Re… and anything else HTC makes!
