China’s NCC has certified a Bluetooth keyboard cover for the upcoming HTC Nexus 9 tablet. The certification documents don’t reveal any new information about the tablet itself, but the images do match up with a leaked document posted by Android Police a few weeks back. The HTC UG0B Bluetooth keyboard sports five rows of key with a shortcut key for voice input. The images depict the UG0B keyboard cover as a cross between the Surface Type Cover and the iPad Smart Cover, but it’s unclear how it will physically attach to the HTC Nexus 9 (our money is on magnets).
Surprisingly, the NCC images show two variations of the Nexus 9 keyboard with slightly different key size configurations. one of the keyboards features evenly sized keys across all five rows while the other one reduces the size of the key on the top number row and increases the key size slightly for the remaining for rows. While the UG0B Bluetooth keyboard is listed with HTC’s name, the documents show that Darfon Electronics is responsible for the production of the keyboard. Darfon Electronics operated as an ODM and OEM, producing Bluetooth accessories for dozens of other companies.
Google still hasn’t announced when it will be holding the launch event of the HTC Nexus 9, but thanks to legal documents from NVIDIA, we know that the original plan called for a Q3 release.
