The HTC One (M8)is regarded by many as the best Android smartphone of 2014. It’s unique metal design and incredible performance make it stand out in the crowded Android space, but the lack of a high-resolution camera has only been the phone’s weak point. The HTC M8 Eye may change all that. A new rumor from @upleaks claims that the HTC M8 Eye will be equipped with a 13 megapixel main imaging sensor while retaining its DuoCamera setup.
The recently-released HTC Butterfly 2 features all of the same specs as the HTC One (M8), but swapped the metal chassis for a plastic one and its DuoCamera received a 13 megapixel upgrade. Now, it sounds like the HTC M8 Eye will be taking that 13 megapixel DuoCamera setup and bringing it back to the icons metal design of the One (M8). If it all sounds a bit confusing, don’t forget that HTC also has the HTC One (E8) which is nearly identical to the One (M8) but in a plastic body with a single 13 megapixel camera on the back.
To add to the mess, @uploaks also shared that the HTC M8 Eye isn’t the same device as the rumored HTC selfie smartphone. We’re doing a little digging on our own and hope to have things cleared up in the next few days.
