HTC’s Q2 profits reach a 7 quarter high

The second quarter of the year has traditionally been good for HTC and Q2 of 2014 isn’t any different. HTC shared its preliminary Q2 numbers today, revealing a profit of NT$2.26 billion (US$75.6 million). The number isn’t incredibly high, but it is an increase of 80% from the same quarter in 2013 and the highest profit the company has seen in seven quarters. HTC didn’t share sales numbers for the HTC One (M8), but analysts estimate that the company shipped over 3 million units in the quarter.

While HTC was able to line its pockets with a bit of extra cash, it’s doubtful that HTC’s executive team is popping bottles of champagne. Most of HTC’s profits are coming from cost cutting efforts – evidenced by the fact that total revenue for the second quarter came in at revenue totaled NT$65.06 billion, a fraction higher than HTC’s low-end guidance. HTC may not be selling as many phones as it used to, but its internal restructuring has managed to stabilize the company.

HTC still have a rough road ahead. Analysts predict that profits and revenue will decrease in the third quarter as Samsung and Apple gear up to launch new flagship devices. With the HTC M8 Prime shelved until 2015, HTC will need to rely on the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (E8) to boost its numbers over the next few months.

  1. HTC One E8 with that low price, will be a success!
    I just hope next year One could have a better ultrapixel camera and record at 4K;
    I think it is just the camera hardware HTC need to improve, its camera software is already awesome!

    1. 4K is not ready yet. Lol
      I mean non of these little soap boxes can record. Sony and LG crash after max 2 minutes. LG gives info on screen that goes to hot and is about to switch off.

      Too hot so as you said next year will be better.

      What I like about HTC that if its not ready yet they dont do it.

      1. Yes, but even with still UltraPixel. In low light was not SO good as I expected. Actually some photos were excellent, but others were a crap. And I think everybody would love to have at least a 8UP camera.

        1. I think will be better with 805 and so on.

          For 4K we need better processors and bandwidth memory. They should deliver then.

          It reminds me Sony Blu Ray players yes can stream movies but after few minutes gets jerky as processor rich his max.
          Dont get me wrong I am sony boy but this was beginning.
