Earlier this week, HTC released Android 4.4.4 to the Google Play Editions of the HTC One and HTC One M8. If you haven’t received it by now you should go out and make your phone check the servers for updates. This release comes just days after Android L was announced and the rollout for Android 4.4.4 is outlined for delivery to the other HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 variations no sooner than August.
While HTC is in the earliest of stages evaluating the refreshed Android L operating system the latest KitKat update brings security, performance enhancements, stability, and bug fixes, but doesn’t change much of anything else as far as we can tell. Maybe by the time this update hits Verizon Wireless users will get the battery saver utility as well since other carriers have already received the minor update with this feature.
If your GPE HTC One M7 or HTC One M8 hasn’t received the update yet, you can check for it manually by going to:
- Settings
- About Phone
- System Updates
- Press the “Check Now” button
