The budget-friendly HTC Desire 616 is now available in Russia, Singapore, China and a handful of other countries across Asia. There’s a big gap separating the HTC Desire 616 from the flagship HTC One (M8), but the handset’s specs are quite impressive when take its price into consideration.
The HTC Desire 616 is equipped with a 1.4GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek, 1GB of RAM, 5-inch 720p display, 8 megapixel rear and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, HD video recording, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot (up to 32GB), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G, and 2,000 mAh battery. HTC is not yet sharing which version of Android is running on the HTC Desire 616, but the images show that the software build will be similar to that of the HTC Desire 310 and HTC Desire 210 with a stock Android base and BlinkFeed integration.
In Singapore, the HTC Desire 616 will be sold for SGD 298 (roughly $240 USD) – a comparative steal when you consider the lesser-spec’d HTC Desire 610 typically carries a price tag of around $290 USD. For now, it looks like HTC will not be unleashing the HTC Desire 616 in Europe or North America.
