The rumored HTC Eye is making another pass around the rumor mill today as @evleaks has revealed that the “selfie phone” is currently in AT&T’s hands for testing purposes. We still don’t know any real details about the HTC Eye except for the fact that it will be heading to AT&T in the fourth quarter of this year. Since the HTC One (M8) is equipped with a front-facing 5 megapixel camera, we’re assuming that the HTC Eye will have an even more impressive selfie cam.
While the original intent of the front-facing camera was to enable video calling, teens and young adults now seem to use the added camera module more often than the high-spec’d camera on the back of mobile devices. It’s unclear if the HTC Eye will be a massive success, but we have a feeling it will do pretty good if accompanied with the right marketing campaign and a tie-in with apps like SnapChat and Instagram.
AT&T has begun testing the "selfie phone" — the HTC Eye.
